Frequently Asked Questions

How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?

My goal is to empower both you AND your partner for the best birth for you. I involve the partner's preferences and goals in the intake process so that everyone is on the same page. I do not take the place of your partner (unless requested) and fill in the gaps, help support both parties and make sure both of you are supported.

What are your interactions with medical staff like?

My goal is to work smoothly with your medical team. I can't make medical decisions for you, so we focus on forming your birth preferences before we enter the birth space so that you and your partner can advocate for what feels best for you. Kelowna is a small community and my priority is supporting your preferences while maintaining strong professional relationships.

Do you perform any physical examinations?

While in my role as a doula, I am not your medical provider. During your chiropractic visits we will perform examinations as necessary for your care, but as your emotional support person during the birthing process I do not act as your medical provider.

Can I bill my insurance for doula services?

Some insurance plans may cover doula services under your HSA (health spending account) but it isn't the norm. Although I am a chiropractor, my doula services are not in my chiropractic scope of practice and not billable through insurance
